AfroDIG is the African Dialogue on Internet Governance, a continental platform where Africa’s many voices converge to deliberate on the governance of the Internet and to chart the future of the digital continent.

1. Identity and Mission

The African Dialogue on Internet Governance (AfroDIG) is a Pan African, community driven initiative dedicated to promoting inclusive, transparent, and accountable dialogue on Internet governance and digital policy across Africa and its diaspora.

AfroDIG operates as a nonprofit, nonpartisan, and multistakeholder platform, bringing together governments, civil society, academia, the private sector, the technical community, youth, and innovators to strengthen Africa’s voice in global digital governance.

2. Ownership and Responsibility

This website, www.afrodig.org, is published under the responsibility of the AfroDIG Secretariat.

AfroDIG acts in accordance with the principles of the African Union Digital Transformation Strategy, the African Declaration on Internet Rights and Freedoms, and the spirit of Ubuntu, which reminds us that “I am because we are.”

3. Intellectual Property

All content published on this website, including texts, logos, visuals, publications, and multimedia materials, is the property of AfroDIG or of its respective authors and partners, unless otherwise indicated.

Content may be shared, quoted, or reproduced for noncommercial and educational purposes, provided that the source “AfroDIG – African Dialogue on Internet Governance” is clearly cited.

Any other use requires prior written authorization from the AfroDIG Secretariat at hello@afrodig.org.

4. Data Collection, Protection, and Privacy

AfroDIG respects privacy and protects personal data.

The platform collects and processes limited data from open and public community sources, including:

  • community mailing lists and public databases related to Internet governance,

  • the AfriNIC community database,

  • open and publicly available ICANN databases,

  • and other community platforms and registries relevant to African Internet governance.

This information is used strictly for AfroDIG’s mission: community engagement, consultation, research, and the dissemination of news, invitations, and educational resources. AfroDIG does not sell, rent, or transfer personal data to any third party for commercial purposes.

If a person no longer wishes to receive AfroDIG correspondence or newsletters, an email to hello@afrodig.org will ensure that their address is removed from our mailing list without delay.

AfroDIG complies with the principles of the African Union Convention on Cybersecurity and Personal Data Protection (Malabo Convention) and aligns with international standards of ethical data stewardship.

5. Community Responsibility and Ethics

AfroDIG upholds the values of dialogue, inclusivity, transparency, and respect. All contributors and visitors are invited to engage with civility and integrity. Hate speech, discrimination, or any form of abuse will not be tolerated.

The platform reflects a continental ethic: African knowledge, African values, global cooperation.

7. Jurisdiction and Governance

AfroDIG is guided by Pan African values and the principles of collective responsibility. In case of dispute or clarification, AfroDIG favors amicable resolution through dialogue and consensus, in line with the spirit of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

Legal references are interpreted within the framework of African cooperation and international best practices for nonprofit entities.
